Applied Criminology and Policing Centre

Originally located in a West Yorkshire police station almost 20 years ago, increasing demand for our work has led us to grow over time into a vibrant research community, moving onto the University campus in 2004. We maintain close links with police and community safety partnerships in West Yorkshire and beyond.

The word 'applied' is the core of what we do, ensuring that our research is relevant, both to policy and practice. We are a highly skilled team, with many years' experience in conducting ground-breaking research that aims to advance the understanding of crime and ways in which it can be prevented and reduced.

We hope you will enjoy reading about our team, track record, international links, PhD students and study opportunities. Please contact us if you have any further questions.

Dr Jason Roach
Director of the Applied Criminology and Policing Centre

We aim to undertake quality research that is of use to policymakers and practitioners, advances our understanding of crime and how to reduce it and that is communicated effectively through publication, conference presentations, teaching and professional training
