Sustainable Living Research Centre concerns with diversity of living experience, heritage, tourism and zero-carbon approaches. Too often sustainability is seen as restricting human future development when it should be embraced as a new opportunity with universities to link research to users/stakeholders through knowledge transfer and feedback loops. This proposal takes a positive view of the future encouraging research to support the concept of Living Sustainably. There are three key themes represented in the work-package offering multi- and interdisciplinary research to solve contemporary problems with clear pathways to impacts. These three themes are: (a) Buildings and environments for sustainable heritage and culture; (b) Sustainable tourism – local, national and international; & (c) Creation of a Zero-carbon living laboratory that is based on 'lean' principles.
