Meet the Team

Professor Maria Ioannou (Co-Director) is a Professor in Psychology and Course Director for the MSc Investigative Psychology.

She is a Chartered Forensic Psychologist (British Psychological Society) and a HCPC Registered Psychologist (Forensic). Dr Ioannou has been involved in the assessment of intervention programmes for reducing/preventing crime for a range of different forms of criminality and groups of offenders. Typically, these evaluations have required assessments of change/impact/influence of the interventions on individuals and their criminal behaviour as well as assessments of the overall programme itself.

Dr Calli Tzani (Co-Director) is a Senior Lecturer in Psychology.

Dr Tzani has expertise in criminal psychology and has an extensive publication record on various crime related areas, including school bullying, cyberbullying, cyber-fraud, cybercrime, sextortion, terrorism, wellbeing, and many other areas related to psychology and crime. Dr Tzani is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and is a member of several advisory bodies, including the Institute on Crime and Criminal Justice Policy, European Public Law Organisation (EPLO) as well as the Forensic Editor of the BPS magazine ADM.

Dr Thomas James Vaughan Williams is a Research Fellow in Psychology, whose research areas include radicalisation and online behaviours.

They have presented at both domestic and international conferences, working as a research fellow for the Cyberpsychology Network.
