Stylistics Research Centre
The Centre provides a focal point for research and pedagogy in stylistics (the linguistic analysis of style in literary and non-literary discourse).
The Institute for Applied Linguistics carries out linguistic research aimed at solving real world problems through the exploration of language in use.
The institute comprises two research centres and two research groups: Stylistics Research Centre, Centre for Intercultural Politeness, Speech Science Group and the Languages and Translation Research Group.
We also run a language consultancy service, Language Unlocked, and are committed to making linguistics accessible to the public via our popular language magazine Babel.
We are able to offer a wide range of expertise in the analysis of both speech and written language and we work frequently with non-academic partners and clients.
