Organising body: University of Huddersfield

The Second International Roberto Gerhard Conference will be held at the Conservatori del Liceu, Barcelona, 24-26 April,  2012. It is intended to develop the areas of study discussed during the first conference in Huddersfield, 2010, by covering as wide a spectrum of Gerhard’s activities as possible, therefore papers exploring all aspects of his life and works are invited: analytical, biographical, historical or philosophical; his contribution to Spanish musical scholarship and the study of Catalan traditional music - all will be considered.

The programme will include a visit to Valls, Gerhard’s birthplace, on Wednesday, 25 April, where, at the Institut d’Estudis Vallencs, guest speakers will include Mariona Agustí, daughter of Conxita Badía Agustí, and Gerhard’s nephew, Ferrán Gerhard.

There will be two concerts: one by students of the Conservatori del Liceu and one in Valls.

Deadline for abstracts (250 words): 30 November, 2011.

The principal language for the conference will be English.

Details about fees, deadlines for papers, accommodation, etc. will be published later.
