Centre for Precision Technologies (CPT)
Welcome to The Centre for Precision Technologies (CPT) at the University of Huddersfield
The Centre for Precision Technologies is a national centre of excellence in advanced metrology, solving real-world manufacturing challenges through cutting-edge precision engineering research. We collaborate with over 150 industrial partners to develop next-generation measurement technologies that improve accuracy, speed and cost-efficiency across engineering, design and manufacturing.
Designated a National Centre of Excellence in 2011, CPT launched the EPSRC Future Metrology Hub in 2017, which was renewed in 2024 with a £13m grant to expand its scope to sustainable manufacturing. Led by Professor Dame Xiangqian (Jane) Jiang, the Hub unites experts in engineering, physics, maths and manufacturing to set industry standards and drive innovation in metrology.
