Biography

Mukhtar is an Accounting Technician on the Bids, Contracts and Compliance team. He is relatively new to the university having only joined the organisation on 1st February 2012.

After graduating with a Business Administration degree in the late 90’s, Mukhtar successfully set up and ran his own fish and chip shop for a couple of years. Since then the majority of Mukhtar’s work experiences have involved working in finance related environments.

Mukhtar worked for Leeds City Council for over 6 years where he undertook a variety of different finance roles within their Development Department. During his time at the council he also undertook some further professional development by studying for the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualification.

Mukhtar’s last post, prior to joining the university was as a Faculty Research Administrator at the University of Leeds, where he worked for over 3 years and was responsible for managing and supervising the post award function for the Faculty of Education, Social Sciences and Law.

Administrative Responsibilities

Mukhtar’s current responsibilities involve supporting academics and colleagues within the schools and the R&E department,to help deliver effective research outputs on behalf of the university.

On a day to day basis Mukhtar ensures that the post award function within the research framework runs smoothly and effectively for the schools and service areas that he is responsible for. His duties range from providing extensive financial advise on budgets to processing grant claims on behalf of the academics.

Mukhtar also liaises with external funding bodies and provides assistance to his manager and colleagues on a regular basis to try resolve any ad-hoc queries as they arise.
