Biography

Cristian joined the University of Huddersfield in 2011 as a Research Fellow working on neutron target optimisation for the ISIS Neutron Facility. He also carries out background and activationstudies for the HEBT of the European Spallation Source. Between 2007 and 2011 Cristian worked as a Research Associate at the University of Manchester where he was involved in neutronics design studies of accelerator driven sub-critical reactors (ADSR) as a member of the ThorEA collaboration.

Between 2005 and 2007 he played a leading role in physics analysis of neutrino coherent scattering events at MINOS experiment at theUniversity of Sussex. He has also worked for the Dark Matter project at Imperial College London between 2003 and 2005.

Research and Scholarship

At the University of Huddersfield, Cristian works on neutron target optimisation (TS1) for the ISISFacility at Rutherford Appleton Laboratory. He is also involved in the HEBT background andactivation studies using GEANT4 for the European Spallation Source.

As a research associate at the University of Manchester, Cristian worked on reactor core designand optimisation for the ADSR, developing the GEANT4 code by writing several classes and thusextending the applicability range of the code to nuclear reactor studies. Cristian was also part ofthe MINOS collaboration while at Sussex University where he carried out research related toneutrino coherent scattering events and their effect on the neutrino oscillation signal. As part of thiscollaboration, Cristian worked on the MINOS experiment at Fermilab, on physics analysis.

Cristian also joined the Dark Matter Collaboration working at Imperial College London on detectordevelopment for dark matter particle interactions in underground experiments.
