Biography

I am a Senior Lecturer in the Division of Health and Well-being. I joined the university in 2004 after working for over twenty years in a number of community projects including a drugs street agency and an advice service.

I am currently involved in the research and evaluation of drugs services.

I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Enterprise Activities

I am a member of the Social Enterprise Unit which has undertaken a number of evaluations of community-based voluntary and charitable organisations.

Teaching and Professional Activities

  • I am module leader for 'Assessing Community Needs', a foundation level module which provides students with the knowledge and skills to work members of a community to identify and engage with assets and needs.
  • I am also module leader for the honours level module, 'Social Issues and Social Problems' which allows students to critically examine conditions which are currently considered to be social problems.
