Before taking up the post of Lecturer in Podiatry at the University of Huddersfield in 2013, I worked as a Specialist Podiatrist for a North Yorkshire NHS Trust. In this role I was responsible for managing a range of specialist podiatry clinics including woundcare and biomechanics, as well as supporting many local community initiatives such as a Falls Prevention Programme and a Diabetes Education Programme. I have conducted a number of clinical audits to improve patient outcomes and experience of podiatry services, which has also served to identify staff training requirements and support evidence based practices.

My undergraduate research dissertation investigated the relationship between waist to hip ratio and lung function with a small group of multi-professional colleagues, which lead me to be the recipient of the Year 3 Overall Project Prize.
Collaboration with Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust (Podiatry and Tissue Viability Services) to investigate the lower limb casting procedure and risk of tissue breakdown.
I teach the theory of Health Promotion and Well-being to undergraduate students. Primarily this involves the introduction of a range of health promotion materials and strategies which can be applied in a clinical setting. We also look at the role of the practitioner in the identification of health promotion needs and priorities, including self treatment, care and footwear, in order to optimise health outcomes for the recipients of podiatric services.
I am also involved in teaching for the Research 2 module, in particular the role of research, systematic reviews and audit in health and social studies and its potential for the development of practices and policies.
