Jonathan joined the University in 2006 having previously worked in industry as a senior finance manager in retail and manufacturing. Having graduated from Huddersfield, he then worked as an accountant with both the retail and manufacturing industry. In 1998, he returned to the University of Huddersfield to study full time for his professional accountancy qualification. This was followed by a return to working in industry. During his time in industry he was responsible for developing and implementing new reporting and accounting systems, as well as managing several departments.

Enterprise Activities

Jonathan has been involved in delivering short day courses to business managers on ‘Managing Finance’ and has also been involved in external consultation on project feasibilty.

Administrative Responsibilities

Jonathan is the Deputy 2nd Year Course Leader and independent chair for the accountancy student undergraduate panel meetings.

Teaching and Professional Activities

Jonathan is the Module leader on the Accounting for Managers suite of modules which is designed to introduce non-accountants to financial aspects of business. These modules are primarily taught to both Business and Management students.

His main area of teaching is in Financial Reporting, teaching on the 2nd Year Corporate Reporting and Governance and the final year Advanced Corporate Reporting modules .He has taught both at Undergraduate and Professional level. He also teaches in Management Accounting to the 2nd Year and Management and Cost Accounting to the first year. He is also responsible for the supervision of master’s dissertation students.
