Biography

Position: Research Assistant, Department of Logistics, Operations, Hospitality and Marketing
Qualifications: PhD, MEng, MSc, FHEA

 

Marina Papalexi joined the University of Huddersfield Business School in July 2013 as a Research Assistant. Her research area is related to the application of Operations Management concepts and theories in supply chain and services. She participates in BSc, MSc and MBA lectures in Operations Management.

Prior to her appointment at the University of Huddersfield, Marina worked as a Mechanical Engineer at her own technical office operating in Greece. She was responsible for managing projects by using engineering principles and techniques. She also worked for the OAED Institute of Vocational Training, as a Mechanical Engineering Tutor.

After graduating in Production and Management Engineering, in 2010 she completed an MSc in Health Management and in January 2017 she completed her PhD, focusing on aspects of innovation within the pharmaceutical supply chain (PSC). Her research has contributed to academic literature as it adds more theoretical and empirical insights to innovative delivery processes, especially those that have been characterised as highly complex.

Research and Scholarship

Marina’s research interests are: operations management improvement strategies, supply chain optimisation, innovation. Specifically, her PhD focuses on the aspects of innovation within the Pharmaceutical Supply Chain (PSC).

She has also been involved in research regarding quality management, sport management, knowledge transfer and social media.

  • Training Programme Abroad - LLP/Erasmus Programme - 3,096€ / prime-investigator.
  • Subsidy for new scientists - Managing Employment Organisation of Greece - 20,000€ / prime-investigator.
  • The implementation of reverse logistics in the pharmaceutical supply chain - UoH Business School grant: £2,500 / prime-investigator.
  • The dissemination and implementation of strategic Lean thinking and decision making optimisation within the NHS - ESRC grant ES/K000667/1: £105,962 / co-investigator - Led by David Bamford.
