Biography

I joined the University in 1994 as Research Secretary for the School of Human and Health Sciences. In 1997 I took up the role of Research Assistant in the Centre for Applied Childhood Studies (now the Centre for Applied Childhood, Youth and Family Research). This role has several strands: journal administration; manuscript work; event organisation; and publicity/PR in relation to research projects. I have acted as Administrator to a number of academic refereed journals, including: Journal of Sexual Aggression, Critical Social Policy, Children & Society, and The British Journal of Social Work, liaising with editors, authors and editorial board members.

I have collaborated with academic colleagues in the production of manuscripts for publication, for example - proofreading, editing and rendering into house style for a number of publishing houses. I have organised programmes of research seminars, visiting lecturers’ events, book launches, away days, PhD students’ induction and progression events. I have designed posters for research project publicity, photographed research events for publicity and archival purposes, and have liaised with international research partners. I took a lead role in the design and development of the website for the School’s flagship EU-funded project - COPING.

In 2005 I completed a BA (Hons) History (First Class) and an MA History in 2008, both awarded by the University of Huddersfield.
