Biography

Dr Yousif Muhamedsalih was appointed as a full time research fellow at the Institute of Railway Research (IRR) based within the University of Huddersfield on the 10th February 2014.

Yousif initially joined the University of Huddersfield to study for an MSc in Control Systems and Instrumentation, graduating in November 2009. Yousif Continued his studies at Huddersfield and was awarded a PhD on 5th February 2015 for the project ‘Two-phase flow meter for determining water and solids volumetric flow rate in vertical and inclined solids-in-water flows, supervised by Prof. Gary Lucas.

Yousif has delivered several oral presentations to international and national conferences and is also involved in teaching  MSc and undergraduate students at the university.

Research and Scholarship

Currently, Yousif is conducting research projects for the Rail Safety and Standards Board (RSSB) as part of a Strategic Partnership with the univeristy. This includes projects related to engineering/safety and risk models integration, wear and RCF prediction and vehicles derailment studies.
