Qualifications: MA, FHEA

Glynis joined the Business School in 1994 having previously worked in international business and marketing within the engineering and textile sectors for both large organisations and SMEs including the Coats Viyella Group.

With a background in languages, having studied French, German and Spanish, Glynis moved into export and import management gaining graduate membership of the Institute of Export and developed an interest in the training of exporters. This prompted a move into education delivering IoE professional qualification courses. A key element of this is the Partners in Marketing group which she established to ensure that Huddersfield marketing courses meet the needs of business and to ensure that the University and its students can benefit from close links within the industry.

Glynis has also worked closely with professional bodies, in particular the CIM in the co-ordination of a multi-pathway scheme whereby students have the opportunity to obtain professional qualifications alongside their studies.

Research and Scholarship

Current research interests focus around student participation in industry competitions to support the development of employability skills and industry-ready graduates.

Previous research and links to business have led to case study-based research including the internationalisation of Debenhams and the use of a personal shopper service to enhance customer experience for Debenhams’ shoppers.
As a result of her involvement in sports marketing, Glynis was also invited to participate in a programme on BBC Wales on The State of Welsh Rugby. Her particular focus was fan experience.

Research Interests
