Susan Lazer joined the University in 1991 and is the LLB/MLP Course Leader. Susan graduated from The University of Leeds in 1985 having been awarded an LLB (Hons) in Law (2:1) This was followed by the Solicitors Final Examination (honours) having studied at The College of Law, Chester in 1986. Admitted as a solicitor in 1988 working both in private practice and local government. 2007 Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and LLM (Distinction) The University of Huddersfield in 2011.
Susan is a subject leader for Civil Litigation on the professional courses and Evidence on the LLB. Having been awarded a distinction for the LLM in the evidence of children and vulnerable witnesses this area of research is progressing to doctoral level encompassing broader aspects of the use of oral evidence in the traditional adversarial trial system.

Susan has extensive experience of developments in legal education and training through external professional appointments. Having been appointed in 1995 as a monitor for the Law Society’s Professional Skills Course this was followed by a wide variety of professional appointments including Institutional Lead external examiner and subject specific external examiner for the Solicitors Regulation Authority. Susan remains an external examiner in areas of professional practice.
Close contact with legal practice has been maintained with returns to practice.

Susan supervises research degrees focusing on a variety of areas of professional legal practice and evidence.
Susan currently delivers professional development courses to legal practitioners.

Susan's teaching responsibilities focus on professional areas of study and the law of evidence.
