Biography

Lecturer Practitioner University of Huddersfield January 2016 - Present; Self Employed Advanced Nurse Practitioner September 2015 – Present; Advanced Nurse Practitioner/Clinical Lead Locala Community Partnerships Septemmber 2011 – September 2015. Key achievements: Completed PGCert in Health Professional Education in 2016; MSc in Advanced Practice in 2013, BSc in Professional Studies (Critical Care) in 2009, qualified as a n adult nurse in 2006.  Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and Queen’s Nurse.  I have been working as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in primary care since 2011 and continue as a clinical practitioner.  I have worked in vulnerable people healthcare since 2012 and have specialist interest in migrant and homeless healthcare.  I currently work for the university two days per week on the MSc Advanced Nurse Practitioner/Advanced Clinical Practitioner route as well as the prescribing modules.

Research and Scholarship

Interested in the following: Infectious diseases, public health, advanced nursing practice and inclusion healthcare.

Esteem

Awarded the Queen’s Nurse title by the Queen’s Nursing Institute.  Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Enterprise Activities

Member of the Internation Council of Nursing Nurse Practitioner/Advanced Practice Network practice policy group since 2016 and a board member of the Royal College of Nursing Yorkshire and The Humber since 2011.

Teaching and Professional Activities

Teach across the MSc Advanced Nurse Practitioner/Advanced Clinical Practitioner modules as well as the independent and supplimentary prescribing and community practitioner prescribing modules.
