Biography

Paul Elliott is an inorganic chemist and is Associate Dean (International) for the School of Applied Sciences.

He originally carried out his undergraduate studies at the University of York (MChem, 2001) before moving to Sheffield to commence doctoral research on the iridium catalysed carbonylation of methanol and associated by-product pathways in the group of Tony Haynes (PhD, 2005). He later returned to York to carry out postdoctoral research on transition metal complex mediated hyperpolarisation transfer in NMR spectroscopy in the group of Simon Duckett.

Since moving to Huddersfield he has built up his own research group with interests in transition metal photophysics and photochemistry and is a member of the Supramolecular and Structural Chemistry and Materials and Catalysis Research Groups. With his work benefiting from computational chemistry calculations, he is also a founding member of the Huddersfield High Performance Computing Research Group.
