Course Leader for the BSc Hons in Counselling Studies; Senior Lecturer on the  BSc Hons in Counselling Studies and BSc Hons Psychology with Counselling. Previously Course Leader for MSc in Counselling Studies - vocational training. Senior Lecturer in Higher Education since 1990 in Midwifery - combined theory and practice. Early career in Nursing;  Key achievements: received 'Surgical Nurse of the Year' award.  Midwifery training, Key achievement: Advanced Midwifery award in 1984.Worked as a midwifery manager in the NHS 1983-1988. Key achievement: PGCEA from University of Surrey in 1990.  Moved into Counselling and Psychotherapy in 1996; Key achievement:   MSc in Counselling from the University of Nottingham  in 1999; Key achievement:  Vocational Masters in Psychotherapy in 2005. Currently practising as a gestalt  psychotherapist , professionally registered with the UKCP.  Commenced Professional Doctorate in 2012 focusing on how therapists use their personal development group experience in their client work. Presented work at the BACP research conference in 2016.  Currently working as an organisational consultant and clinical supervisor for counselling and psychotherapy training.

Research and Scholarship

Currently completing a professional Doctorate on Personal Development groups in Counselling/Psychotherapy training. Working on a text book for counselling trainees in collaboration with colleagues from other Universities.

Co-supervisor for PhD research. Active interest in body trauma, diversity in counselling practice, personal development, reflection used as an evaluative tool.

Enterprise Activities

Academic reviewer for Sage, with particular focus on CBT . Organisational consultant and clinical supervisor. Work in Ethiopia - Jimma University with a focus on HIV and Aids. Consultant/ Trainer for BUPA in London.
