Biography

Joined the University as a student in 1997, graduating in 2001. Doctoral studies until 2004 when I started teaching. Expertise in all aspects of digital media with a particular focus on web, digital imaging and games development.

Research and Scholarship

Current research interests include computer vision, image processing and more recently accessibility for the world wide web.

For computer vision and image processing I am part of the Computer Graphics and Image Processing research group in the School of Computing and Engineering and work in areas such as colour correction and correspondence for stereo imaging and panoramic imaging. My personal interest at the moment is using interest points to determine correspondence for accurate image mosaicing with the intention of increasing speed and accuracy of panoramic imaging technologies. I am also interested in pursuing panoramic video as a future project, having recently received a small grant to build a prototype system using 6 cameras.

For accessibility I am interested in making the world wide web more accessible. This includes research into human computer interfaces and how they can be used to enhance the experience. It also includes technical investigation, the w3c provide web accessibility guidelines but putting those into practice is not always so easy.
