Research and Scholarship

I am currently involved in ALPS (Assessment and Learning in Practice Settings), which is a partnership research project between five Yorkshire Universities, including, York St Johns, Bradford, Leeds Metropolitan and Leeds University.  My current focus involves using electronic questionnaires across 16 professional groups, such as podiatry, nursing and social work, in order to gain feedback from students at the point of qualifying, and at a six and twelve month follow up.  Students are given the opportunity to reflect on their course and placements, and comment on their confidence and competence in readiness for practice.  Feedback from two cohorts of students are being sought and this strand of the ALPS project is entering the final phase of data collection.
