Sharon Frankland has worked as a Senior Lecturer in Early Years at the University Campus Barnsley since 2007. Her role includes responsibility for co-ordinating the part-time course at UCB and leading modules on Children’s Health and Wellbeing, Safeguarding Children, Multi Agency and partnership working, and Work Based Learning.

Sharon is a Registered Nurse and Health Visitor and prior to joining the Early Years team at UCB had over 25 years of experience within the NHS undertaking a range of roles and responsibilities within hospital and community settings. Sharon has spent the majority of her career supporting families and children and working with vulnerable groups to improve outcomes for children.

Research and Scholarship

Current research interests

Sharon is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and is a committed researcher.

Sharon is currently studying towards a Professional Doctorate in Nursing and is investigating how multi-agency teams work together to empower children and families to achieve positive health and wellbeing
