Biography

Qualifications: BA(Hons), PGCE, MA, PhD, FHEA

Shamim is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Education. He is the author of two books:  Muslims, Schooling and the Question of Self-Segregation (Palgrave) which won the ‘highly commended’ book award by the Society for Educational Studies’ in 2016 and Muslims and the Question of Security: Trojan Horse, Prevent and Racialised Politics (Palgrave). Shamim’s research focuses on the framing of race, religion in educational policy. He has also contributed towards chapters in books, reports and also various peer reviewed journals. Shamim was the  co-SIG convenor (Race and Ethnicity) for BERA (British Educational Research Association (2013-2016).
