Qualifications: BA(Joint Hons), PGCE, MA, FHEA

Judith is a Senior Lecturer at the University in the School of Education and Professional Development with responsibilities as course tutor on the Pre-service PGCE (PCET), and personal tutor for trainees wanting to teach English, Media and Performing Arts.  Judith is also Course Leader for the Certificates for Teachers of Skills for Life (Literacy, Numeracy, ESOL) in the Lifelong Learning Sector, teaches on the BA in Education and Training programme and with involvement with the In-service PGCE (PCET) course, having DALO responsibilities for a college in the PCET Consortium.

Judith worked in literacy support in Adult and Community Education prior to qualifying to teach in both the secondary and further education sector.  Before coming to the University in 2004, she worked in Further Education colleges teaching on a range of courses and specialising in Literacy, Communications and English and programmes for those for students with learning disabilities. I then moved into initial teacher training and CPD working closely with colleagues to develop teaching and learning through a role as a teacher trainer.

Research interests include: metaphors for learning, the expression of ideas through metaphorical modelling, adult literacy  teaching and the language of Further Education classrooms
