Biography

Position: Principal Lecturer, Department of Accountancy, Finance and Economics
Qualifications: BA, MA, PgCert, FCA, FHEA

 

Lynn is currently head of Undergraduate Accountancy and Finance programmes.

Lynn joined the Business School as a part-time lecturer in 1990 whilst running her own accountancy practice following a career in auditing with one of the big four firms of accountants. She became a full-time member of staff in 2000 and was appointed as a principal lecturer and course leader of the undergraduate accountancy programmes in 2007.

She holds a BA with Honours in Geography from Leeds University, an MA in Accounting and Finance from the University of Huddersfield and a PgCert in Higher Education Practice: Research Supervision and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Lynn is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

Research and Scholarship

Lynn is a member of the Financial Ethics and Governance (FEGReG) research group and is registered for a PhD in the area of audit committees and further education governance.

Research Degree Supervision

Lynn was part of the supervision team for a PhD candidate which covers the area of Corporate Reporting Disclosure. Completed June 2016.

Administrative Responsibilities

Currently head of Undergraduate Accountancy and Finance programmes.

Member of the School Teaching and Learning Committee, School Board and the School Accreditation and Validation Panel.

Teaching and Professional Activities

Lynn is module leader for Advanced Corporate Reporting, a final year module, and teaches on the undergraduate Issues in Accounting and Finance module and postgraduate Governing risk: Ethics and Audit module.

She is also actively involved with recruitment (home and overseas) and admissions as well as Schools and College Liaison.
