Biography

I joined the University in 2007. My role is Business Development Manager in Research & Enterprise, working across all Schools, acting as a link between our staff and external businesses to deliver collaborative projects and identify funding opportunities, in particular Knowledge Transfer Partnerships.

Previously, I worked as a Sales Manager within the speciality chemicals industry across Europe (ICI/Zeneca/Avecia Biocides) involving businesses of all sizes and in many different sectors.

Administrative Responsibilities

I co-ordinate Knowledge Transfer Partnerships across the University, represent the University at the regional KTP Managers meetings and ensure that staff here are aware of any new initiatives relating to KTP (and other Technology Strategy Board) funding opportunities. My remit is to identify and develop partnerships between businesses and academics which fulfil business needs but also offer benefits to staff and graduates. The University currently has 8 KTPs and our target is to have 12 programmes running at any one time. KTPs involve academics spending half a day a week at a company transferring knowledge to a business and are a useful tool in terms of the REF to demonstrate the impact of research.

I also co-ordinate any contacts from external organisations that come into the University via our Services to Business website.
