Sound Craft Vision Place

Sound, Craft, Vision, Place puts Huddersfield researchers at your disposal to help local groups explore heritage for themselves.

Heritage is what you think it is. Whether it’s the story of your street, the corner shop, a family on the other side of the world or what people did a thousand years ago, Sound, Craft, Vision, Place is here to help you.We can introduce you to skills for oral history, the history of sport, music, art and design, industry, built heritage, transport, landscape, journalism, digital and broadcast media.

We are keen to involve those who have met barriers to enjoying the heritage. We can help local and virtual communities to interpret their own backgrounds and surroundings, including web- and digital-based activity to encourage virtual volunteering by people who are connected by place, shared experiences or interests.

You may have met us at one of our open days last year. More events are planned: watch for details here.

Sound Craft Vision Place worked in conjunction with the HLF All Our Stories grant programme in 2012. There is a follow-on programme offering grants in the range £3-10k; it is a rolling programme, which means you can apply at any time without the pressure of a deadline. You will find details here:

If you would like advice on the content, methods and practicalities of future projects, or just an idea you would like to discuss, do let us know - we will be glad to hear from you.
