Developing the Culture of Publication in the Healthcare and Art and Design Professions
Project Lead: Dr Joanne Garside

Date: 2012 - 2014
Many students at all levels of study produce excellent coursework which could be of a publishable standard. However, this potential has not been fully developed wit health care professional or art and design students. Several Centre members were involved in the design of a ‘writing retreat’ workshop aimed at supporting the novice author through the publication process in recognition that this may contribute to their employability, research internships and ultimately successful postgraduate awards.
Funded by a grant from the University of Huddersfield Teaching and Learning Institute (TALI), a two-day retreat was held in June 2013 involving student/supervisee pairs. The success of this retreat will be evaluated in terms of specific learning outcomes and the submission of an article for publication.
