Dr Yun Gao
Director for Sustainable Living Research Centre
Dr. Yun Gao works as an academic and an architect. She is a Reader in Architecture, REF UoA13 leader and Director of Sustainable Living Research Centre at the School of Arts and Humanities, University of Huddersfield. Her academic research explores architectural heritage, design of socially responsible and environmentally sustainable built environment, and traditional and cultural changes reflected in architectural and urban development. Yun is a Royal Institute of British Architects Chartered Architect and Architects Registration Board Registered Architect. She is author of more than 90 published research papers and 4 books, including The Temporality of Building: European and Chinese Perspectives on Architecture and Heritage, Architecture of Dai Nationality in Yunnan in China, and Portfolio of Research and Projects of Sustainable and Creative Villages in SW China, and Being There: reflections on 20 years of the International Course at the Huddersfield School of Architecture. Yun has also been awarded research funding from a number of Research Councils in the UK and in China. Yun has held a Visiting Professorship at the Yunnan Arts University in China and was awarded the title of Distinguished Professor in Chongqing Jiaotong University.

Alexandros Nikitas
Director for Future Mobility Lab
Dr. Alexandros Nikitas, a world's top 2% researcher for the years 2020 and 2021 according to the Stanford/Elsevier ranking list (c-index based), is a Reader in Smart Transport for Huddersfield Business School and the Founding Director of the Future Mobility Lab. He is the Chair of the Universities’ Transport Study Group’s Executive Committee; the premier academic forum in the UK and Ireland for transport studies with 60 Universities. Dr Nikitas is working on sustainable and socially inclusive mobility and automated, connected, alternatively fuelled and shared transport. He is the Associate Editor of the Journal of Transport & Health and member of two more Editorial Boards. He has more than 100 peer-reviewed research outputs. He has led and/or worked with great success among others on Horizon 2020 and FP7 programmes and on consultancy projects with companies such as Volvo and Jetas and with the Councils of Kirklees, Wakefield and Bristol. He is also the Academic Advisor of the Future Transport programme for the West Midlands Combined Authority. Earlier in his career, Dr Nikitas was a Senior Researcher in Urban Futures and Transportation for Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden; now he is a Visiting Professor with them. He has also been an invited visiting scholar for Tongji University and Chang’an University in China, AUTH and NTUA in Greece and EC’s Joint Research Centre, Ispra, Italy. Between 2011 and 2014 he served as a Local Councillor for his hometown Drama, Greece.
