Adrian Pitts

Adrian Pitts is a Professor of Sustainable Architecture at the School of Arts and Humanities, at the University of Huddersfield. Adrian has taught as a full-time member of academic staff at Huddersfield and also the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University over a career spanning more than 30 years and he has also held visiting positions at several other universities internationally. He is the author of well in excess of 100 published research papers and three books. His interests span all areas of teaching and research themes of sustainability in the built environment and have involved practical/experimental research in real buildings/laboratory settings as well as simulated/theoretical studies. One of his key interests in recent years has been researching into the sustainability of buildings and built environments in places such as China and Vietnam. Currently Adrian is the Leader of the Sustainable Environment ASRI (Area of Strategic Research Importance) in the University of Huddersfield.

Lauri Koskela

Lauri Koskela joined the University of Huddersfield in October 2014 when he was nominated Professor of Construction and Project Management. Previously he worked at the University of Salford as Professor of Lean, Theory Based Project and Production Management. Prior that he was involved in applied research at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland.

Since 1991, Lauri has been involved in research on lean construction. His research has focused especially on the theories of production management as well as project management, underlying lean construction. Since 2005, he has researched theory of design. He has promoted the view that design theorizing started already in Antiquity, with the method of analysis (from geometry) and rhetoric as the first models of design by analogy. It is contended by him that these two models still provide a superior understanding on design.

Lauri is a founding and continuously active member of the International Group for Lean Construction. With more than 12,000 citations according to Google Scholar, Lauri is one of the most cited scholars in construction management and allied fields.

Athanasios Angelis-Dimakis

Dr. Athanasios Angelis-Dimakis is a Reader in Chemical Engineering at the University of Huddersfield. He has completed his PhD Thesis entitled "Energy Planning under Uncertainty" at the National Technical University of Athens. In 2015, he joined the Centre for Environmental Policy at Imperial College in London, as the Co-Investigator of a project on enabling carbon dioxide reutilization. In May 2016, he joined the University of Huddersfield and from August 2022 he is a Reader in Chemical Engineering.

His research interests focus on: Industrial Ecology, Industrial Symbiosis, Life Cycle Assessment, Techno-Economic & Eco-Efficiency Assessment, Process Modelling & Simulation, and Water Resources Management. He is currently the Principal Investigator for the University of Huddersfield for two H2020 projects: (i) AquaSPICE Project - Advancing Sustainability of Process Industries through Digital and Circular Water Use Innovations (2020-2023); and (ii) FRIETS - Sustainable optimization of the value chain of added-value fresh and dried berries through the integration of Precision Agriculture management strategies and innovative dehydration and edible coating (2021-2025).

Snow Wu

Dr. Jialin (Snow) WU is a senior lecturer at University of Huddersfield Business School. She is Associate Editor of the Journal of Sustainable Tourism and is currently sitting on the editorial board for Events Management. Her approach integrates elements of behavioral science, social psychology, information technology and human geography to improve quality of life and sustainability. Snow’s research interests encompass digital marketing, individual pro-environmental behavior, sustainability issues in tourism, events, hospitality and other business sectors. She is keen to investigate people, communities, cultures, economies, and their interactions with the natural environment across space and place. Her research appears in top journals such as Tourism Management, Journal of Travel Research, Journal of Sustainable Tourism, Environmental Research, International Journal of Hospitality Management, International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management, and etc. She is Steering Group Lead for Sustainable Travel and Tourism under Sustainable Living Research Centre.

Anna Davidson

Dr AC Davidson is a Senior Lecturer in Human Geography at the University of Huddersfield. Their research centres on the intersections of social justice and sustainability, with a focus on feminist and queer theory on body-environment relations and methodological questions on the ethics, aesthetics and politics of knowledge production. Their PhD (University of Oxford, 2018) was on the body and relations of power in urban cycling in Los Angeles. Using multi-method qualitative research this project investigated the linkages between cycling and gentrification, unequal urban exposures and neoliberal subjectivities - as well as movements to resist these. They are working on collaborative research projects relating to queer and feminist activism (Feminist Spaces and Bois of Isolation); Geoethics (Principal Investigator on Mining for Meaning: Geoethics of Extractive Industries, funded by the British Academy 2021-2023) truck driving lives (Trucking Lives, ESRC-funded 2022-2025) and equity and justice in geosciences (NERC-funded EDI project 2021-2022).

Bethany Fox

I got my start in languages and medieval history at the University of Cambridge, but after my first encounter with a glacier while on a historical field trip to Iceland, I became fascinated by Earth processes and surface environments. I undertook a degree in geology at the Open University and a PhD at the University of Otago, New Zealand, using sedimentological and magnetic techniques to reconstruct aspects of climate and environment from a remarkable ancient lake deposit. After a brief stint in industry, I worked as a Lecturer and then Senior Lecturer in Earth Science at the University of Waikato, New Zealand, then joined the University of Huddersfield as a Senior Lecturer in Physical Geography in 2018. My main research interests are (1) understanding present and past environmental processes using sedimentology and environmental magnetism and (2) interfaces between geoscience and social science.

Ensiyeh Farrokhirad

Dr. Ensiyeh Farrokhirad is a research fellow in sustainable architecture design. She joined the School of Arts, Design, and Architecture at the University of Huddersfield in September 2022. Working on the climate crisis, emphasizing nature-based solutions to reduce the negative consequences of this phenomenon, is her area of study. She was an international candidate, fully funded to attend the Department of Architecture of the University of Naples "Federico II," within the thematic areas of Sustainable Technologies, Recovery of Architecture and Environment, and Representation. Her Ph.D. research was part of the PRIN 2015 Adaptive design and technological innovation for the resilient regeneration of urban districts under a climate change regime project. In her Ph.D. thesis, Research has been conducted to standardize the design process of vertical greening systems to improve efficiency and reduce errors, thereby enabling widespread use of this kind of green system.

Fiona Cheetham

Fiona Cheetham is a qualitative researcher and employs ethnographic and multisensory research methods to contextualise consumption in the context of sustainable and resilient communities. This involves situating consumption within wider relational networks, practices and discourses. Her projects have focused on a variety of different topics including; the consumer collectables market, pets and the human-animal relationship, the sharing economy, consumption in and of green and blue spaces and places and, more recently, human-nature connections within consumer society. Her research has been presented at international conferences and has been published in a range of academic journals including Marketing Theory, Journal of Rural Studies, Journal of Business Research, Consumption, Markets and Culture, Geoforum, and the Journal of Consumer Behaviour.  Fiona has co-authored a book entitled ‘Inside the Compassionate Organization; Culture, Identity, and Image in an English Hospice’ (Oxford University Press, 2018), and contributed to an edited book entitled ‘Narrating Objects, Collecting Stories’ (Routledge, 2012). She is on the editorial review board of the Journal of Consumer Behaviour.
