Institute for Skin Integrity and Infection Prevention
Welcome to the Institute for Skin Integrity and Infection Prevention
The Institute for Skin Integrity and Infection Prevention places the University of Huddersfield at the forefront of research and teaching in the management of acute and chronic non-healing wounds. Established in 2014, the Institute for Skin Integrity and Infection Prevention (ISIaIP) is internationally recognised for excellence in wound care, skin integrity, infection prevention and translational research. Our multidisciplinary team brings together leading experts to deliver scientifically rigorous, clinically focused research that translates directly into better patient care.
We connect applied science with clinical practice through a true ‘bench-to-bedside’ approach. Our research explores skin barrier function, wound healing, infection prevention, innovative therapies, medical devices, and the use of artificial intelligence and data analytics to improve diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes. Through our work, we aim to enhance patient quality of life, support clinicians, improve healthcare efficiency, and deliver cost-effective, evidence-based care.
Our research is organised around three core pillars that address some of the most pressing challenges in wound care and infection prevention.
