Venue

Huddersfield is a large market town situated in West Yorkshire, England. It’s the 11th largest town in the United Kingdom. It boasts a wide range of facilities and attractions as well as its football team recently been promoted to the Premier League. With it being situated in the largest county of them all in West Yorkshire, England, its surrounded by superb scenery and landscapes which is perfect for walking or cycling opportunities. Make sure you get a warm Yorkshire welcome,  by visiting some of the small villages on the outskirts of Huddersfield.

If it’s not taking in the views at the Holmfirth Vineyard, then you must visit the local Handmade bakery in Slaithwaite, but not forgetting to make the journey back through to Huddersfield to catch a show at the famous Lawrence Batley theatre. Throughout the years Huddersfield has been home to some of the most famous and popular festivals, from the Marsden Jazz Festival in October, the Huddersfield Literature Festival in March and this year saw an epic performance from Christian Marklay and 1-week exhibition right in the heart of the town centre which was part of the successful Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival in November.

Travel

The University is a 10-minute walk from Huddersfield train station.

Directions

Once you come out of the railway station walk straight across the square. At the end of the square turn right onto John William Street and walk straight ahead until you come to the pedestrian crossing at the Lloyds/TSB bank ahead of you. Continue straight ahead on the crossing to New Street (Nat West bank will be on your right). Turn left onto King Street and continue straight. Turn right onto Queen Street and walk along the pavement passing Lawrence Batley Theatre on your left. Continue to the end of the road and cross using the pedestrian crossing. Continue straight ahead and you will see the University entrance.

Alternatively, you can use the Huddersfield free town bus that passes by the bus and train stations and stops near the University's main entrance. Further information about this bus and its key stop off points can be found on West Yorkshire Metro website. You can book your train ticket to Huddersfield from any UK train station or on the Trans Pennine Express website without paying a booking fee. Manchester

Huddersfield is approximately 24 miles northeast of Manchester, it has a direct train and bus to the city centre.

Manchester is home to one of the UKs largest and busiest airports, which operates with more than 70 airlines and travels to over 210 destinations worldwide.

Leeds

Huddersfield is 14 miles southwest of Leeds, and has direct links via the train and bus which take between 20 – 40 minutes.

Leeds also has an airport with links to many international destinations.

London

Huddersfield is approximately 163 miles from London however there are plenty of train links to the nearby cities of Leeds and Wakefield where you can catch a connecting train to Huddersfield. The journey takes around 3 hours including connection times
