Against the backdrop of the governments ‘levelling up’ agenda for the UK economy, we ask three payment / money experts to discuss if local currency systems have any potential in expediting the ‘levelling up’ objective. Can a redesigned local currency drive regional growth?

To avoid the pitfalls of the echo chamber, this session ‘Money Matters: The Mainstream, The Maverick and The Misfit:’ brings together three disparate perspectives from across the economic landscape. After delivering a short presentation, David Birch, Brett Scott and Max Haarich will discuss the potential of a future community-based currency system specifically designed for Huddersfield.
