Our first exhibition of the 2026 programme, Stories in Motion, opens on Monday 26 January at the Bath House Gallery, Sovereign Design House

Stories in Motion is an exhibition of films and moving image works that celebrate the culture, communities, and everyday stories of Kirklees, as told through the lenses of filmmakers, film enthusiasts, community groups and cultural organisations. It includes narratives from Huddersfield, Dewsbury, Spen Valley, Batley, and lived experiences of place, identity, belonging and wellbeing.

From homemade videos to professional productions and archival stories, we welcomed films from across Kirklees, with a commitment to include voices that are often underrepresented. The exhibition is an invitation to look closer at the cultural life of Kirklees, to discover what is already happening, and to envision what futures might be possible when more people have access to storytelling tools and spaces for culture.

The show also marks the beginning of an ongoing conversation about place-based cultural development in Kirklees.

🗓️ Stories in Motion is open from Monday 26 January until Friday 1 May (closed Friday 3 April - Monday 6 April)

⏰Opening Times: Monday - Thursday & Saturday: 10am - 3pm, Fridays: 10am - 2:30pm

📍Address: Bath House Gallery, Sovereign Design House, Queen St South Annexe, Huddersfield, HD1 3DR

Stories in Motion is part of Cultures of Film, the place-based research festival from the School of Arts and Humanities that is a celebration of film as a tool for investigation, exploration, community action and telling stories of change.
