Recommendations for automated checking of regulations and requirements management in healthcare design workshop

Monday 1 July 2019, 1 - 5pm

The Building Centre, London

The aim of this workshop is to present the research findings and discuss future research with healthcare client representatives, designers, software developers and policy makers. This will contribute towards defining future directions for code checking research in healthcare.

This workshop is part of an ongoing research project, aiming to propose recommendations for the adoption of automated checking of regulatory compliance in the design of healthcare facilities. More specifically, the research will:

  • identify enablers and barriers of using BIM based tools aligned with process changes for automated compliance checking;
  • contribute towards the adoption of automation in healthcare building projects;
  • propose a categorisation of (a) building codes (HBNs, HTMs and Building Regulations) and (b) client requirements information for healthcare projects.
