8:30 AM, 31 August 2016 to 6:00 PM, 2 September 2016 at University of Huddersfield
Dates and Location
The Workshop on Accelerator Driven Subcritical Systems will take place, Wednesday 31st August to Friday 2nd September 2016, at the University of Huddersfield, England. This is the 4th workshop in an international series - the previous workshop was held at Richmond, Virginia in 2014.
The Workshop welcomes submissions for the full range of topics in ADS systems and thorium including, but not restricted to, the overlap between them. It will include updates on projects that are, or hope to be soon, under construction around the globe, as well as more preliminary designs and concepts.
The UK has been prominent in the field of civil nuclear power, and there are strong hopes of a 'nuclear renaissance' to meet carbon reduction targets. There has been, and still is, a great deal of expertise. It thus provides a fitting host country for this conference.
Travel
The conference will start on Wednesday morning, delegates are advised to arrive on Tuesday afternoon/evening. The Conference will finish after lunch on Friday.
Travelling by air, Manchester airport is very convenient. Direct trains go frequently (every half hour during most of the day) from the airport to Huddersfield, and additional connections involving one minor change are also available. The journey takes about 1 hour and a ticket costs approximately £20.
Call for Abstracts
The selection of talks and posters will be made on the basis of abstracts submitted to the Conference using the indico website which is here. If you have problems using this system, just email the abstract to R.Barlow@hud.ac.uk
The proceedings of the conference will be published in Proceedings of Science (http://pos.sissa.it), the open access online journal organized by SISSA, the International School for Advanced Studies based in Trieste. The proceedings will be peer-reviewed. The Programme Committee will oversee the refereeing process.
The procedure for submission and the required style-file is describe on http://pos.sissa.it/POSauthors.html. For each talk or paster, a paper should be prepared with a maximum length of ten pages. The submission deadline is 1st October 2016.
