Young Researcher Award:
Best oral presentation awards to one PhD and one Post-doctorate candidate will be given in recognition of the research presented and their presentation skills.
Free Access Award (FAA) to the MIAMI Irradiation and Other Associated Facilities:
Free 3-days of access/training to the MIAMI Irradiation and other associated facilities worth about £14,000 will be given to one final year PhD student and/or one Early Career Researcher working on radiation damage/corrosion of materials and whose work is judged to be of a high standard. The candidates will need to submit 1-2 pages of research proposal detailing the work they want to undertake using our research facilities. The candidates will be provided free access to several equipments such as TEM with in-situ ion irradiation and gas injection, standalone TEM/EELS/EF-TEM, FIB, SEM/EDS/EBSD, HIP, XRD, XRF, ICP-MS/OES etc.
Pump-Priming Experiment Award:
Free 5-days of access/training to the MIAMI and associated facilities, worth £20,000, will be given to an early career researcher on submitting a high quality 2-3 pages research proposal for pump-priming experiments with the aim of developing a new research funding bid. The candidates will need to highlight how their work using our research facilities will help them in developing their research funding bid. Participation in the workshop is not necessary to submit the proposals but it might help in building the necessary collaborations and we will try our best to direct/introduce the candidates to potential project partners participating in the workshop. Access (and the necessary training) to our wide range of research facilities will be provided if it helps in developing a successful funding bid and the candidates can be directed to several of our national and international partners if deemed necessary.
