SWFLG takes a functional landscape and livelihoods approach. This is based on ecological principles, economic rationality and social sensitivity. It involves:
The group works on issues such as livelihood development, devolved/participatory forest management, enterprise development, sustainable wetland and catchment management, watershed management, climate-smart agriculture and landscape management for biodiversity conservation. SWFLG focuses on sharing research findings amongst actors engaged in this area and other parts of Ethiopia, and on supporting technical and policy development.
